Clinical Pharmacology
is an Internet database used by hospitals and retail pharmacies across the United States. Clinical Pharmacology compiles drug information so that doctors and pharmacists can correctly prescribe medications and fill prescriptions. Students using Clinical Pharmacology as a source of information for a paper must cite it, just as they would any other source. According to the Clinical Pharmacology website, there is an accepted manner in which to cite the database, depending on whether you are accessing it over the Internet or using a CD-ROM version.
Instructions
Citing an Internet version
1. List the name of the publisher or compiler, followed by a period. When citing Clinical Pharmacology, this information should be listed as:

2. List the name of the monograph or overview you are referencing, followed by a period. For example:
An Overview of Neurontin.
3. List Clinical Pharmacology as the name of the database. This information should appear as follows:

4. List the URL that a reader may use to access the information you are referencing. This should appear as follows.

5. List the date on which you accessed the information in a month-day-year format. For example:
Accessed: January 6, 2007.

Citing a CD-ROM version
7. List the name, version, and format of the database, followed by a comma. This information should appear as follows:

8. List the name of the overview or monograph, followed by a period. For example:
An Overview of Neurontin.
9. List the city in which the CD-ROM was produced, followed by a colon. In this case, the information is:
Tampa, FL:
10. List the name of the publisher of the CD-ROM, followed by a semicolon. In this case, the information is:
Gold Standard, Inc.;
11. List the year the CD-ROM was released, followed by a period. For example:
2004.
12. The completed citation should appear in the following format:
