Customer Appreciation Gifts

A personal note of thanks is just one of the ways you can show clients that you appreciate them.

The holidays aren't the only time of year to show your clients and customers that you appreciate their business. Send them thoughtful gifts on their birthdays, wedding anniversaries or major life events like the birth or marriage of a child. Depending on your business, you may want to surprise your client with an unexpected gift at the start of spring, summer or fall. When you give a gift to a client, it helps solidify your business relationship for years to come.

Gift Baskets

Gift baskets can be tailored to your unique line of business or to your client's personalized interests and preferences. Did you have an incredibly successful year managing a client's money? Send a gift basket with a bottle of wine and selection of four small cheeses along with a hand-written note thanking them and inviting them to celebrate with you. Doing this recognizes your client as the means of your success. Close your note with a wish for his continued success and blessing. While a gift like this can be given at any time, sending it around the New Year is appropriate. If you are a wholesaler, create a basket out of items that your clients will find useful, whether it's foods like jellies and candies or everyday items and tools. If you have new inventory coming in, consider making a small gift basket full of samples of the new inventory.

Gift Cards

If you are a salesman and particularly if you sell expensive items like cars or real estate, send a gift card from a local restaurant to your clients on the first anniversary of their purchase with you. Even if all you can afford is a $10 coffee card or gas card, the gift, along with a note of appreciation for her relationship with you tells your client that you are grateful. Include two of your business cards with the note so your client can refer you to her friends or keep your number handy for herself.

Promotional Items

Give small items to your clients as a way of showing appreciation and promoting your business or team at the same time. Rubber wristbands, golf balls, mouse pads, pens, hand-held fans and small, magnetic white boards are all inexpensive items that your clients may enjoy using and which you can emblazon with your company or team name and a short message such as "Thank you for your support!" or "Thank you for your business." Even a personalized calendar with a thank you message on it can be a useful gift for clients when given in November or December. If you run a retail business, advertise a customer appreciation day where your customers can receive a free half-pound of coffee or box of chocolates with any purchase.
