A little recognition goes a long way. This holds true not only on the athletic field or in school, but in office and home environments as well. Awards don't have to be expensive; they can be simple certificates of recognition and appreciation. When you are awarding others, show a little creativity in these certificates so that may be worthy of being framed and displayed.

Award an individual for helping another perform at her highest level. This could be a coworker in an office, a teammate on a sports team or a classmate in school. This award is given to someone for helping another exceed her past performances.

Give an award to a person who has successfully diffused potential explosive situations quickly and effectively. This is an award that can be given to a player on an athletic team or an employee within a company.


Most Versatile Player


Typically MVP is thought to stand for most valuable player, but in the end the employee or teammate that can perform in multiple situations may go unrecognized. He may not stand out in any individual role, but by helping out in a variety of positions, he may be helping the team or company significantly without drawing attention to himself. Through a secret ballot, seek out one such colleague or teammate and recognize his contributions by awarding him the "Most Versatile Player" certificate.


Best Communicator


Find who on your team can communicate the team or company message the most effectively. It's important for everyone on the team or the company to understand the goals, and without effective communication, efforts can fall short. Hence, a good communicator is a valuable team player, and should be appropriately awarded and appreciated.

If there is too much tension in an office or on a team, it will hurt the performance of the entire group. Give out an award for the person on your team or within your company that can lighten the mood the most effectively, while keeping everyone focused on the goal. This isn't necessary a class clown, but one that can mix humor and a serious approach effectively.
