Tax deposits
To avoid penalties from the IRS, employers must make their federal tax deposits on time. The employer can make the payment electronically or by mailing or delivering the payment with the respective federal tax deposit coupon. The IRS sends employers that it has on record pre-printed tax deposit coupon books automatically. Coupons simplify payment processing because it includes the company's EIN, name and address. If the employer requires additional coupon booklets, or needs to have them sent to his payroll service provider or tax professional, he can order them from the IRS.
Instructions
1. Call the IRS at (800) 829-4933 if you need additional coupon booklets sent to you. New employers who received their EIN after January 2004 may be pre-enrolled in the IRS' electronic tax payment system. The IRS automatically sends them their PIN for electronic payments and one federal tax deposit coupon. If the employer wants to make additional payments via check he has to order more coupons.
2. Complete Form 8109-C located in the front of the coupon book to have the coupons sent to your payroll provider or tax professional. Note that using Form 8109-C will only send the coupons to the location you have indicated on the form. The employer must still place the order for the coupons, and the employer address will not change on IRS record.
3. Wait for the coupons to arrive in the mail five to six weeks after placing the order.
