Becoming a candidate for your state takes preparation, planning, financial resources and dedication. You also need to build relationships with people who will support you throughout your candidacy.
Instructions
1. Attain the age of 35, be a natural born citizen of the United States and live in the United States for at least 14 years.
2. Decide what political party best represents your position on key issues. You can also run as an independent.
3. Make an official announcement that you are running for President of the United States. This is usually done at a strategic sight in your home state.
4. Begin raising money. Becoming a presidential candidate is an expensive decision. You will need to have lots of financial resources in place to fund your campaign.
5. Find a reliable and talented campaign manager. The campaign manager is responsible for helping you get the word out about your campaign through a variety of sources.
6. Designate a campaign headquarters and recruit volunteers to help you with polling, making telephone calls and overall drumming up of support for your campaign.
7. Register as a presidential candidate in your state and participate in the primary elections.
