Marketing directors, or managers, of hospitals are well-paid, but they earn less than the average for their occupation. Their main duties are identifying potential customers for hospital services and developing pricing strategies that will bring in the most profit.
Average Wages
Marketing managers of hospitals earned average, or mean, wages of $47.18 hourly or $98,140 on an annual basis, according to May 2009 survey data compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Median Wages
The median wages for hospital marketing managers were $42.13 per hour or $87,640 per year in May 2009, the BLS reports. These are the wages that half of hospital marketing managers earned more than and the other half earned less than.
Wage Range
The lowest-paid 10 percent of marketing managers working for hospitals earned hourly wages of $26.63 or less per hour, the BLS says, which works out to an annual salary of $55,390 or less, assuming 40-hour work-weeks and year-round employment. Wages for the top 10 percent were $75.02 or more per hour, or $156,040 or higher on an annual basis. A PayScale.com survey of 4,551 marketing directors found that those employed by hospitals earned salaries ranging from $49,242 to $77,986 per year.

Hospital marketing managers earn less than the average wages of marketing managers as a whole, which are $57.73 per hour or $120,070 per year.
