Make An Ebook Cover

If you have information to share, the best way to do so online is with a well-written E-book. But without a good pitch and an eye-catching book cover, not too many people will be tempted to purchase and open your E-book. Your E-book cover will be plastered everywhere you advertise your book, so you've got to be sure that it's done right. Here are some tips on make your E-book cover.

Instructions

1. Size your E-book cover to the exact size you chose for your book, such as 5-by-7 inches or 6-by-9 inches. There is no need to allow extra space on the edges to be cut off because this book will not be printed.

2. Decide on the background color for your E-book. White is easiest, because most photos have a white background. You can do a colored background, but you need to have a professional image editing program and the know-remove the white or other colored background from a photo if it has not already been done for you.

3. Choose a royalty free photo to be the central image on the E-book cover. You can find very reasonably priced (and sometimes free) photos to use on Dreamstime or iStockPhoto. See "Resources" below for a link.

4. Add text to the cover. The title of the book should be in big, bold, bright text to catch the potential buyer's eyes immediately. The subtitle can be smaller, but needs to be easily read (preferably capitalized for emphasis). The E-book author can be towards the bottom or top of the cover (or not listed at all in some cases, especially when authored by an Internet website marketer or other small business).

5. Save the finished file as a PDF file. You will have to get a copy of Adobe Acrobat or Professional (or use Adobe's Create PDF online service) and download a postscript printer driver in order to convert the file to PDF and sync it up with the rest of your E-book for display online.
