Marketing your new tanning salon is crucial for the survival of your business. You can have the best equipment and a great staff, but these things aren't going to help you if you can't get customers to come through the door. 1. Have a grand opening. This will generate buzz and may even get you some free advertising, since newspapers like to cover new business openings in town. Purchase a grand opening banner and call local newspapers and television stations to inform them of your grand opening.


2. Advertise in newspapers and local magazines and offer a free tanning session or a free trial-size tanning lotion to new customers. People love free stuff, so this should bring in a lot of customers. Provide excellent service when the new customers come in to keep them coming back for more.


3. Take advantage of social networking. Open accounts on Facebook and MySpace and post pictures of your salon. Advertise your sales and special offers on Twitter to build a solid fan base.


4. Design eye-catching fliers and put them up all over town. The fliers should prominently display the name, location and telephone number of your business. Include information about your special offers as well.
