Write A Rationale

Writing rationales is just stating your case.


Rationale is defined as "1. the fundamental reason or reasons serving to account for something.


2. a statement of reasons. 3. a reasoned exposition of principles." A person writing a rationale is stating their case and justifying what they want to do. People write or make rationale statements more than they may realize.


Instructions


1. Determine what you need to write your rationale on. For educators, it could be adding courses to the curriculum, or a student may have to write a rationale paper on why they should be exempt from a course.


2. Make a list of questions for your rationale statement and answer them. This will make the process of writing it a little easier.


3. Follow the guidelines given for the rationale paper. Some places only want a couple of sentences, while another may want a full paper.


4. State what you want to do, such as attend a workshop or present a course.


5. State the benefit to be received from what you want to do.


6. State how you want to do it including the methods that will be utilized (if needed).


7. Include any relevant citations to support your rationale statement (if needed).
