You can be on online radio DJ!

Perhaps more than anything else, the advancement of the music industry in the digital age is a perfect example of the possibilities of online technology. Music fans can find, download and mix an unimaginable amount of music for free or low cost using a number of services. In just a couple of minutes it's possible for any music fan to become a dj. Here's design your own online radio station using the web service last.fm.

Instructions

1. Type in last.fm in your Internet browser and select "Login" from the top right hand side of the screen.

2. Enter your desired username, email address and password. Then click "Sign up and create my profile" to begin to create your station.

3. Go to your email account and open the email from last.fm to validate your account.

4. After verifying your account you are given the opportunity to add a photo bio and links to other websites. These personalized details can increase the chance of others listening to your station.

5. To play a radio station featuring music by a particular artist and others that sound similar choose "Radio" from the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Type in a name of a single artist into the gray "Last.fm Radio" box. Your music station will load and play automatically.

6. To create a station powered by more than one artist select the "Multi-Artist Radio" option and enter the names of up to three artists. Your station will load and play. You then have the option of saving these options for future listening.
