The good news is you don't have to be a nurse or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) to provide home care services. Although those qualifications look better on resumes, it only takes a caring person with a big heart to help the elderly and disabled enjoy living in their own homes. All you need is to be a good listener, care about your clients, and be able and ready to assist them with things, which their health, age or disability prevent them from doing on their own. You also should know market your home care services.
Instructions
Sell Home Care Services
1. Hang fliers in local stores, letting people know that you offer home care services. On the fliers, include any caregiver experience, health care training and certifications, as well as your phone number.
2. Place an ad in local papers. State your health care experience and contact information.
3. Prepare and deliver a resume to all assisted care and retirement facilities in your area. Many of these facilities hire individuals to perform home care services for their residents.
4. Browse the classifieds section of your local papers. Look for people searching for someone to provide home care services such as caring for the elderly or disabled.
5. Contact a home care agency in your area to find out how you can become a part of their caring staff.
6. Volunteer at local hospitals. Physicians sometimes recommend individuals who provide home care services to patients whom they discharge--patients who may require assistance at home. Therefore, if you volunteer a couple hours each day or week at local hospitals, you'll get to know the physicians and staff better, and gain their trust. Once they've come to trust you, you can let them know you provide home care services to the elderly and disabled.
