Meta Data To A Dreamweaver Page

Optimizing your website using meta data so that search engines can find it can be tedious. Fortunately, Dreamweaver simplifies part of the process. You can enter a description for your site, several keywords and other data that can lead web surfers to your pages.

Instructions

1. Load your web page into Dreamweaver so that you can edit it. Usually this just involves selecting the page from a list on the right-hand side of the screen and double-clicking on it.

2. Click on the "Insert" drop-down menu and scroll down to "HTML."

3. Select "Head tags" from the HTML menu, and then click on "Description." Enter a short description summarizing the content of the page that will be picked up by the web browsers. This will be automatically saved at the top of your document when you're finished.

4. Select "Keywords" from the Head Tags menu and enter any keywords that will identify the content of the page and make it easier for search engines to find it. Use spaces to separate the words instead of commas. This will also be automatically saved at the top of the page.

5. Save your page, and upload it to your web server. It will probably take awhile for the search engines to index your page.
