You can achieve a professional result by designing or creating the logo or crest freehand and transferring the ideas to a computer program. Software programs are available that provide support and ideas when creating the logo or crest.
Instructions
Design Your Own
1. Click on "File" from the start up menu of your computer and click on the graphic design software you are using to create the logo or crest. A drawing board will appear once the program is open. Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Creative Pro are three graphic design software programs that can be used to design logos or crests.
2. Adjust the properties of your document. Select the measurements and resolution for the design. Choose the average size for the design at 4 inches by 3 inches for horizontal designs and 3 inches by 4 inches for vertical designs.
3. Draw the crest or logo freehand using pencil and paper. Using the drawing as a guide, recreate the design on the computer using tools associated with the software. Tools can be located by icons along the toolbar.
4. Add text to the logo or crest. Click on the location where you want the text and drag the mouse, creating a text box. Type in the text and use the tools in the toolbar to change the font, size or color.
5. Print the crest or logo design or copy it to a flash drive and take it to a printing shop to have it printed on any product you wish.

6. Search for an Internet site such as LogoMaker, So Think or Sourcetec that will allow you to create and purchase a logo or crest based on designs already created.
7. Choose the image or design you want to use from the templates provided. Be sure to find a design that represents your organization, group or business as closely as possible.
8. Personalize the crest or logo using the icon and any words, name of business, or group. Add colors, change font or adjust the text size as desired.
9. Save the logo and view it on the website. Decide if you are ready to purchase the logo or want to change something.
10. Purchase the logo from the online website and download it, save it to your computer or print it out so it can be duplicated.
