Set Up A Coupon Website

Building a coupon website is a lot like building a topic-focused website. The website structure is similar, as is the selection of specific keywords to optimize your website for search engine listings. The only real difference is that in a coupon website, though you provide original content throughout your site, the value your visitors are looking for comes in the form of coupons.

Instructions

1. Set up an account at an affiliate network of your choice. The network you choose depends on the type of coupon site you want to set up, and the type of merchants for which you want to provide coupons. If you're not sure where to start for this, there are some suggested affiliate networks in the Tips section below. Browse the sites and the available merchants in addition to the terms of service and frequently asked questions.

2. Log in to your account and start looking for merchants with relevant coupons for you to use. Sign up for the merchants you find with quality coupons. Once the merchants approve you as an affiliate you can begin selecting the coupons that you will place on your website.

3. Prepare a blueprint of your website. Start with the categories you are going to use to organize it. Break those categories down into pages with specific coupons, coupons for specific merchants, or even coupons for specific products.

4. Add the keywords you want to use for each page to your blueprint. This will help with search engine optimization so that your website is found in the search engines.

5. Select and register a domain name, and purchase a hosting account. The most cost-effective way to do this is to find a company that provides both domain registration and hosting services, as well as quality customer service. This saves both time and frustration in the long run.

6. Add your coupon pages using a free HTML editor, a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, or the built-in website builder that comes with most hosting packages.

7. Build your website one page at a time, starting with your homepage. If your blueprint is detailed enough, this should only be a matter of following your own guidelines and putting it all together in the website builder.

8. Write a catchy heading that summarizes what the page is about and includes your keyword and coupon name.

9. Write an introduction or summary of the page that tells the visitor the benefit or value you are providing him. It should include your keyword and other closely related words and phrases, as well as lead your visitor to the coupons that he came looking for.

10. Enter a sub-heading that tells the visitor again what type of coupons she will find on this page. Use a keyword related to your coupons and the coupon name if possible.

11. Log in to your affiliate network account and click on "View links" for the merchants you signed up for and find your coupons.

12. Click on "get HTML" or "get code." The text varies across affiliate networks. Copy the HTML code for each coupon and paste it into your website builder page below the summary you just wrote. Save and upload the page. Repeat the process and build more pages.
