Great British Gifts

Give a friend who loves English culture a British-related gift.

If you have a friend or loved one who admires British culture, get him a gift that is related to the signs, sights and tastes of the United Kingdom. You can purchase or make your gift, but make sure you use authentic English products when you can.

Shortbread Basket

Purchase several types of shortbread cookies from a grocery store or imported foods store. You can find out if the product was made in England by examining the labels on the packages. Line an old woven basket with a tartan or plaid cloth napkin, and nestle the cookie packages in the bottom of the basket.

Tea Collection

For a friend who loves to drink tea, purchase a variety of tea bags that have been imported from England. Some popular flavors are Earl Grey and English Breakfast. You can place the bags in a tea chest, or you can stuff a few bags in a vintage teacup with a vintage teaspoon.

Tea Party

Host an English tea party in honor of your friend. You can whip up a batch of scones, cucumber sandwiches and fruit tarts. Set the table with china and a silver English teapot. Cover the tables with white linens.

Scottie Dog

Give a friend who has been wanting to become a pet owner a Scottish terrier, or "Scottie" dog. Scottie dogs are associated with the United Kingdom. They were bred originally to hunt pests on farms, but they gained popularity when King James VI of Scotland began to fancy them, according to the American Kennel Club.
