Remodel A Traditional Bathroom

Consider white accent items to incorporate into your traditional bathroom remodel.

When remodeling your bathroom in a traditional style, take into consideration the casualness of traditional decorating. A traditional bathroom does not contain shiny, dramatic or excessively patterned fabric. When considering fabrics to incorporate in your bathroom, lean towards neutral hues. You may remodel your bathroom inexpensively by incorporating different elements from traditional-style decorating. You do not need to replace your bathtub, flooring or other expensive items to remodel your bathroom.

Instructions

1. Paint your bathroom walls a neutral color--for example, tan or white. Neutral colors allow you to accent your traditional bathroom with any color you wish. Traditional bathrooms can have sprinkles of color and still remain true to the traditional decorating style.

2. Remove your window treatments and replace them with sheer curtains. Sheer curtains allow natural light to radiate throughout your bathroom. According to A Bathroom Guide website, natural lighting is an important aspect of a traditional bathroom (see Reference 3).

3. Purchase an accent rug to place in front of your bathtub. This draws attention to your tub. The bathtub is the focal point of a traditional bathroom,. Take into consideration the colors of the accent rug before purchasing one. The rug should not become the focal point, but it should draw attention to the bathtub, enhancing it as a focal point.

4. Install a mirrored medicine cabinet with your drill and carpenter's level. Traditional bathrooms commonly contain a mirrored medicine cabinet.

5. Decorate your bathroom with crisp white linens and accessories. Purchase white decorative accent towels to display on your towel bars. Consider purchasing a white toothbrush holder, toothpaste holder and tissue holder.

6. Purchase potted plants for your bathroom. Place them strategically to create an inviting atmosphere. Perhaps you could place a plant next to your bathtub on the floor and another plant on your vanity. If you wish, you may purchase artificial silk plants instead of live plants.
