Adding photos to a coffee cup is fun and easy.
There are many companies that offer personalized photo coffee cups and mugs. You send them an image and they ship you the finished product. But did you know that you can do this at home if you have a computer with a printer and images that you wish to put on a coffee cup? These coffee cups make great personalized gifts. You can also start a business selling personalized coffee cups.
Instructions
1. Choose an image that you want on your coffee cup. This can be a photo that you have taken, a logo of a business or even homemade artwork. The image needs to be saved as a file on your computer. Using a scanner and editing the image with photo editing software might be necessary.
2. Print the chosen image on water slide decal paper that is suitable for ceramics. This can be purchased at most craft stores as well as online. Make sure the image is sized correctly so it will fit on the coffee cup. This can be done by printing the image on a piece of paper to test the size first so the decal paper is not wasted. Re-size the image if needed with your photo editing software.
3. Cut out the image that is on the decal paper after the ink has dried completely. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, some require a fixative to be applied. The shape that you cut the image out will be the shape that appears on the coffee cup so you can get creative if you would like when cutting out the image. For example, cut the image out in the shape of a star for Independence Day or a heart for Valentines Day.
4. Place the cut out image in water until the edges curl and the decal is able to lift off of the paper. Carefully apply the wet decal to the clean coffee mug and gently blot it dry. Follow the manufacturer's instructions as some decals will need to be baked in an oven while others will just need to dry. Follow any cleaning instructions, such as hand washing the mug instead of putting it in the dishwasher.
