Realtors' Marketing Tools

Realtors can bring in more sales by using the right marketing tools.

The real estate industry can be ultra competitive, and realtors who use the right marketing tactics and tools can set themselves apart from the competition. There are a variety of marketing tools Realtors can leverage to help promote their services, including Internet-based tools like website and email newsletters and print-based tools like business cards and direct mail.

Websites

Websites are marketing tools Realtors can use in a variety of ways. Hire a copywriter and graphic designer to help you design a website to market your real estate services. Include your service offerings, contact information and real-estate tips for potential customers. Create a monthly email newsletter that customers can sign up for on your website. Include helpful content such as advice about buying properties or updates about the state of the market. Develop a blog that you can update weekly to keep customers coming back to your website.

Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing, or SEM, is another tool you can use to promote your real estate business. First, identify relevant key words that your real estate customers might search for. Use the search tool at google.com/sktool to find key words for your business. Examples of key words customers might use are "real estate," "properties," "home buyers," "realtor" and "real estate agent." Once you identify key words you think customers might use to search for your Realtor services, bid on those key words on several search engines. Write an ad, and track how many customers click on your ad.

Print Marketing

Print marketing tools include things like business cards, flyers, posters and banners. Choose several of these tools to help market your services. Another print marketing tool Realtors use is direct mail, in which your send promotional messages directly to a list of prospective customers. Hire a direct-mail vendor to help you develop a targeted list, and then send direct-mail tools like sales letters, postcards or brochures. One benefit of using direct mail as a marketing tool is you can directly track the number of responses you get from your campaign.

Networking

Networking is a marketing tool you can use to market your services to others in your industry. Speak at real estate industry conferences, and attend local real estate trade shows and events in your area. Talk to others about your services, and look to network with prospective customers and build business contacts. For example, find several vendors who offer complementary services to your real estate business, like appraisal or title companies. Recommend their business to your customers, and they'll likely return the favor eventually.
