Advertise A Website On The Internet

Advertise you website online

So, you've created a website. Now you need to get the word out to attract visitors to your site. There are several different avenues for advertising your website on the Internet. Many of those online advertising methods are a waste of money. You want to make sure to get the type of targeted visitors who are specifically interested in your website's content. The three most efficient online adveritsing methods are banner ads with reputable companies, social networking, and message boards.

Instructions

1. Buy Pay-Per-Click (PPC) banner ads from sites such as Google AdWords and Yahoo! Advertising. Choose the type of banner ad and a monthly budget. Google and Yahoo! will display your ads on websites in their ad network (websites that have signed up to display ads for other websites).

2. Include a link to your site on message boards relating to the content on your site. Click on the button that says "Post to thread" or "Add New Post" to add a new message to the topic's conversation. Work your advertisement into the flow of the conversation as if you are offering a resource that the members will find beneficial. Also, add a link to your website in your message board signature, so you can advertise your website every time you leave a new message on the site. The message board signature is a way to personalize your account and tell the other members something more about you. It is an image or text that displays below all of your messages on the site.

3. Use social networking sites, such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, to advertise your website. Add information about your website in your personal account and create an account for the website. Social networking is an effective, and free, way to get the word out about your website.

4. Get your site listed on search engines. Search engines will send more targeted traffic to your site than any other means. Submit your site to the search engine; there is a link on most search engines to do this. For some of the smaller search engines, you will need to validate your email address by clicking on a link in an email that will be sent to you. After validation, your site will be listed immediately. For larger sites, such as Google and Yahoo, it could take several weeks to be listed, and several months to get listed on the first page of the search results. Some search engines will bar websites containing malicious software (viruses or "trojans") or that do not relate to the other sites that they feature. For instance, a search engine just for animal sites will not accept a website related to computer software.
