Many up-and-coming artist are always looking for ways to promote their music. In most cases, they spend time looking for successful ways to get their unique sound heard by millions of listeners and important music moguls in high places. One prestigious accomplishment for most artist starting out is selling their music on iTunes. iTunes is well known by millions of music listeners, and it serves as a great means for building a strong marketing platform. Any artist can set up a sellers account with iTunes as long as the copyrights are in their ownership and clear of any stipulations.
Instructions
1. Get an iTunes (UPC) Universal Product Code. This code is mandatory. You must have a UPC before you can distribute any of your music on iTunes. Click on the "Nimbit" link. Click on the "Join Now" link and setup an account. Mouse over the "Artist Resources" tab and select "Digital Distribution" in its drop down menu. Follow the prompts and provide any necessary information regarding your musicianship and songs to obtain your UPC.
2. Download iTunes to your computer. Click on the iTunes download link. Follow the necessary prompts given by the iTunes installation application to complete the entire process. Once the program is successfully installed to your hard drive, restart your computer to update your computer's new settings.
3. Create an iTunes account. When your computer reboots, click on the new iTunes icon link that will be displayed on your computer's desktop screen. When iTunes opens, click on the "Tools" tab and select "Options" in its dropdown menu. Opt to create your own personal iTunes account through the "Options" menu. When the "Create an Account" window opens, type your personal information in the data forms provided to create your account.
4. Upload your music to your iTunes account. Click on the "File" tab and select the "Import to Library" action. Once your songs have been imported, press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard to highlight all of the songs you want to add to your iTunes Store. Right-click over one of the highlighted files and select the action designated for transferring songs to your iTunes MP3 Music Store. (Action commands may vary depending on your version of iTunes.)
