Setup Multiple Twitter Accounts

Set up multiple Twitter accounts from your computer or cell phone.

The social networking site Twitter allows users to send and read messages to and from people all over the world for free. Some people choose to create multiple Twitter accounts for various reasons, such as maintaining one account for personal use and one for a business or website. Although Twitter allows the creation of multiple accounts, users generally must provide a separate email address for each account. If you have a Gmail email account, use Gmail's address alias feature to create multiple Twitter accounts from one email address.

Instructions

Using Different Email Addresses

1. Go to Twitter.com to set up a new account.

2. Click the "Sign Up" button or link on the Twitter homepage.

3. Enter your full name, desired username, password and email address in the form fields, then click the "Create My Account" button.

4. Type the CAPTCHA code in the box when prompted, then click the "Finish" button to complete the setup process.

5. Log out of that Twitter account, then repeat steps 1 through 4 to set up your next account. This time, enter a different email address in the "Email" field.

Using Gmail Address Aliases

6. Follow steps 1 through 4 in the "Using Different Email Addresses" section above, then log out of your Twitter account.

7. Go to Gmail.com and log into your Gmail account.

8. Click the "Create a Filter" link at the top of the screen.

9. Enter a Gmail address alias in the "To" field, then click the "Next Step" button. Your Gmail address alias can be anything you want, but it must include your regular Gmail email address. For example, you could create an alias for your business by using myusername+businesstwitter@gmail.com if your Gmail email address were myusername@gmail.com.

10. Click the "Apply the label" checkbox, then select "New label" from the drop-down menu.

11. Type the name of your address alias (for example, businesstwitter) in the "New label" box, then click the "OK" button. Click the "Create Filter" button to save your settings.

12. Follow steps 1 through 4 in the "Using Different Email Addresses" section above once again to create another Twitter account. This time, enter your Gmail address alias (for example, myusername+businesstwitter@gmail.com) in the "Email" field.
