Make Custom Made Gift Cards

Sharp scissors or a paper cut help cut fine edges on your customized gift cards.

Customized gift cards are useful for your family and friends and also for small businesses. Making your own custom gift cards is a personalized touch for any gift recipient in your life. All choices, from font to the kind of paper to graphic design, are yours. Even for an introductory paper crafter, this is a moderately easy activity. Simple tools are required and using your creativity is a must.

Instructions

Preparation and Usage

1. Sort your materials on a clean, dry surface such as a crafting table, your kitchen table or your desk. Take a piece of paper and using the ruler measure your exact gift card size. You can also use stencils to draw circles, squares or other shapes for your card.

2. Cut out your initial piece of paper and put to the side.

3. Choose a lighter colored paper and cut out another shape. This shape should be able to be placed within the borders of the original piece of paper. The idea is that the first piece of paper is the background frame for the smaller piece of paper that will serve as the place for defining the gift.

4. Taking a marker, calligraphy pen or stencil of choice, write an appropriate greeting and/or message in the middle of the second piece of paper.

5. Glue the smaller piece of paper to the larger piece of paper. Wait for the glue to dry. Place the customized gift card in a coordinating envelope. Craft stores often carry a vast assortment of individual envelopes, in an assortment of colors. Tie a coordinating ribbon around the envelope so that it resembles a gift.

6. Present to the gift recipient.
