The General Education Development -- or GED -- high school equivalency exam contains five tests that take about seven hours to complete. A limited number of free, printable practice tests are available online. Comprehensive practice tests also can be accessed for free by checking out GED books at the library.

GED books from companies such as Barron's Educational Series, Inc. and The Princeton Review are available at the library. They provide practice tests for reading, writing, science, social studies and mathematics, as well as test-taking tips, such as process of elimination, and write a good essay.
Testing Company
The American Council on Education is the official administrator of the GED. It offers free, printable practice tests with answers for all sections of the exam. Each contains about seven questions. In contrast, the real mathematics exam has two sections of 25 questions each.
